Description
This original acrylic of tree limb abstraction was begun prior to joining FAA. As I recall, it took form on one of those heavy cloud covered, gray skies of late autumn-early winter and entered into memories of Northeastern woodland winters...shoveling snow...pausing to breathe, looking up at tangles of Nature’s freshly laced branches, ...smiling thru exhaustion before returning to the foot of fluffy carpeting, sometimes catching snowflakes on eyelashes or drops of tongue melt. Forests grow with limbs entwined, tortuous, without benefit of arborist trim as they lift often gnarled branches skyward. Old Sycamore, Beech and maple were amazing specimens hiding their arthritic deformities beneath Spring and summer dress. There is still nothing like a Frothy mug of hot cocoa while watching a snowstorm flock surrounding woodlands and shrubbery. And so, this was the mid glaze...now become FINAL GLAZE due to my no longer being able to tolerate Acrylic resins and glazing compounds. I still virtually paint the remaining two glazes of glorious, snowy tangle in my mind’s eye when I hang it in winter and mix a steamy cup of hot cocoa. This is being uploaded for a tribute contest to honor one of the best winter woodland WONDERland artists, Megan Walsh.

Many thanks Dr. Debra…yellow and gray are the starkest contrasts…I have always loved variations of this “look” in winter…that year with a gnarled tree across the meadow…I couldn’t resist?..thank you for SEEing.
